At Vom Kaffee Haus Kennel we conserve the Verein Deutsch Drahthaar through outreach, stringent restoration practice, research and training.

One of the Earth's finest hunting dogs was created in Germany in the late 19th century by a small group of stringent breeders who set out to develop a hunting dog that would excel in all aspects of the German landscape, the field, the forest, the mountains and the water. These breeders created a versatile hunting dog that merged traits from the best dogs from the existing coarse hair breeds, cross bred with the best shorthair genetics. These early breeds included the Stichelhaar, Pudelpointer, Griffon, and the Deutsch-Kurzhaar. We aim to protect the “True VDD” from inappropriate development, but we cannot achieve our goals alone. Find out how you can help. Kaffee is VDD-GNA certified and is a regular participant in all Verein Deutsch Drahthaar affairs and concerns.

Our commitment to the breed

At a very young age Kaffee vom Windigen Punkt was doing what the Deutsch Drahthaar does best, she was getting out in the field and taking care of business.

A Great day out

Kaffee and some of her friends out working the fields in South Dakota…
